Midnight Masquerade by Anya SummersMy rating: 3 of 5 stars
Overcoming darkness
A great story. Sophie takes the first step to change the relationship with Gabe from boss to lover, and maybe more. This step sets in motion tension and self reflection.
Sophie has a history of pain and abuse, yet she stands strong in her conviction of what she wants and needs. It is Gabe that struggles with both giving himself permission to have Sophie, but also his skewed view of his own desires.
Add in some suspense and you have a base for a good story. I did feel that some of the plot elements gave the story a choppy feel, lurching from one event/ tension to another. Not enough to impact my enjoyment but enough for a little predictability to creep in.
