Review: How to Rope a Rough Cowboy

How to Rope a Rough Cowboy by Anya Summers
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Princess meets a real life cowboy

This is the third book in the Silver Springs Ranch series where strong women get caught in the web of rough and tumble cowboys.

Bianca, a member of the British aristocracy flees to Colorado when life in high society becomes too much. A controlling mother has smothered her to such an extent that she needs to reconnect with who she truly is. Bianca and Maverick has a less than auspicious meeting, with Bianca falling back on her snobbishness in her tired state. Word sparring soon turns to physical chemistry as the two embark on a torrid love affair. (Note the elements of mild BDSM) And through this we see the growth in Bianca and the mellowing in Maverick.

But as reader, you can feel the tension building as we know Bianca is keeping secrets and at the height of their connection, something is bound to go wrong.

I do feel that the book could have had smaller tension building that would then drop off rather than the steep climb it did before falling off the cliff. That said, although Bianca and Maverick both acknowledge their willingness to sacrifice for the other, I felt Bianca's strength came almost too late...I did want her to show some backbone earlier in the book. This does not detract from the satisfaction of their HEA.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
