No Gentle Giant by Nicole SnowMy rating: 3 of 5 stars
A treat as always
So this is book 7 in the Heart's Edge series. It can be read as a standalone, but you may miss out on some reference gems if you do.
Fliss (Felicity) is our coffee shop owner who has danger dogging her that she is keeping secret. Alaska is a single dad, working the construction crew in town. He and Eli (his son) has had some ups and downs and are hoping to land somewhere stable. Fliss seeks Alaska's help by asking hypothetical questions. While he sees through her ruse, he is drawn to help. And the chemistry between the 2 flairs as the danger ramps up.
"If we don't put it into words, it can't become a lie. A broken promise. A lost faith."As always, I love Nicole Snow's prose. It is always so descriptive and riveting. She weaves themes into every book as well as small references to previous works and characters. This gives each story a depth I can truely appreciate.
However, this book had a bit of a slow middle and too much packed at the end. It felt out of balance; the rush in the end added too many resolving bits. It is my personal opinion and others may not feel that the pacing was off. This influenced my rating but may not influence your enjoyment of the book.
Given my love of the prose, I will continue to devour every book published by Nicole.
