Blood & Bones: Rook by Jeanne St. JamesMy rating: 4 of 5 stars
The thin line between love and hate
I absolutely loved this book by Jeanne St. James. Rook has a very rocky history with law enforcement. He is brash, rash and very vocal of his dislike.
Jet is a Bryson and the newest hire for the Manning Grove PD. Oil and water don't mix but these 2 are thrown together and cannot keep their distance. Heading for certain heartache, the reader is kept on tender hooks for the final horror crash of their "relationship". Jeanne did an absolute wonder with unwinding this tangle, giving a HEA even if it is not quite how you would expect it to work out. Both Jet and Rook find their way to be both happier individuals but also as a couple.
I love how the books in this series gives us alpha men, rough around the edges but tempered with a soft caring side for their one and only. The female MC are feisty, strong and no pushovers. Jeanne gives us an HEA but does not always finalise all story lines in view of the reader. Some may find this frustrating but I find it makes me think about the book long after I finish it. And isn't that the hallmark of a really good book?
